Miya Services is pleased to announce the appointment of Madison Bourne as the organisation’s new Child Protection Officer, further strengthening its commitment to safeguarding children and young people in care.

Madison brings extensive frontline experience from her time as a Child Safety Officer (CSO) with the Department of Child Safety, where she served as the on-Island CSO for Palm Island. In that role, Madison managed some of the most complex and high-risk child protection cases in the region. Her appointment to Miya Services reflects the organisation’s ongoing focus on ensuring best-practice safety standards and delivering trauma-informed care grounded in accountability, responsiveness, and compassion.

In her new role, Madison will lead Miya’s internal child protection systems, oversee incident response processes, and provide guidance to frontline staff on mandatory reporting, investigation protocols, and safety planning. She will also support workforce capability-building, mentoring staff and embedding a culture of child-first, strengths-based practice throughout the organisation.

“We are thrilled to welcome Madison to the Miya team,” said Lachlan Sloan, CEO of Miya Services. “Her depth of experience, particularly in remote and high-complexity environments, makes her an invaluable asset as we continue to grow our services across Queensland.”

Madison’s appointment signals Miya’s continued investment in quality assurance, ethical leadership, and safeguarding the rights and wellbeing of every child and young person in care.
